I've had this blog a while and kept struggling with how to use it really, Having been of the generation where me and my pals all had blogs from abou the age of 13, I know too well about extremely BORING blog content and was worried this is what I would end up with, but I really wanted a space to contextualise my piece. So I realised - Just have reflections on collections, this way I can look back at it myself without being bored to death. I HAVE DESIGNED MY BOOOK TOOO!!! ok heres the reflection:
Collection numbero duex
Both of my collections strangely enough have been in Bradford, accidentally as I found them both through LVAF.
So collection 2 was part of HATCH, a rather strange Live Art event at the Bradford Playhouse. It was quite good in that the bubbly American lady kept announcing me and telling people to come along and tell me a tale, though I felt a bit like the organisers didn’t really have a clue what I was doing. And 3 or 4 people asked me when I would be making my giant paper banner. However the response was Brilliant!! Lots of people were really interested to read the pages I had already stitched together, and a few were giggling reading them out aloud, I had 2 or 3 people come sit next to me and tell me their stories, with one bloke welling up as he regaled me with tales about his first love and the debate that had followed surrounding whether his unrequited love for a woman was actually love… apparently everyone he has ever know had been telling him for years he had never been in love… whilst the pain in his eyes told me he truly believed he had been. Another gent who was with his wife but had came over to me as he was intrigued by the piece, told me a tale of how his first love was married to someone else and they were all correspondents in the war, his stories fascinated me and he even went into details about how he was an alcoholic and was devastated at the time but understood later that she had to stay with her husband. Apparently she was quite famous and when she died it was across all of the news, I could see the pain in his eyes also.
What I noticed after today’s collection is that I came away with a very warm and fuzzy feeling, I love the strangeness of it all and I especially love how conversations started all around the room. Several people were really interested to find out when the book will be ready and if it will be on sale, so next time I will have to take a ‘write your email on here’ page so I can let people know when the book is done.
Some observations – One lady was laughing her head off, and said ‘it’s brilliant, I don’t know how you thought it up but its absolutely brilliant’. She then asked me before writing her own ‘can it be absolutely anything?’ I wish I knew what hers was.
A few girls, a little younger then me were crowded around reading them for ages, giggling and reading a few out loud. I was trying to interact with them but hitting a brick wall. None communication with me. They were talking about how it was a really lovely project, then when I tried to interject with how it was a beautiful way of spending my time they didn’t acknowledge I was there, I wonder if it was because I am the collector of their tales, so by not communicating with me they were keeping me out of their heads or something… just a thought.
I have decided to change a few things around with the website now, I originally had a PDF download of the tales typed up but now I m going to re jig and remove this, and replace it with a ‘tell me something about your first love’ instruction set… I got some through the post the other day. And why not. Plus by not having them on the site you can just see them in the books. Which Cally is going to show me how to publish. Next Step… Find some time to get stitching, scanning, printing and a making! ☺

ohhhh love love love, its easy
WEll I did my first real collection today, it went well, though I had a cold YUK. a beautiful older couple came in and wrote theirs seperately but about each other and how they had met when they were 13, their answers truly blew me away. I love doing this piece I have to say, I got some answers about cars, loves being eaten by falcons :S and even other tiles about being 13 and parents not allowing you to go meet your love... I'll write more on here soon, but at the moment I still feel sick with a flueyness so I'm going to bed. Vive la first love collections :)

Wednesdays Child...
Well I have to admit I haven't touched my first loves project for a while, But I have just learnt how to bind a book, which will undoubtedly come in handy when I am making the books of love. Lots of book binding for me from now on.
I've started my new jobs you see and its all very busy at the moment. And I'm off to a residential now with Pyramid of arts. woop woop. And next week I've been asked to go to some question and answer session at the university which should be good :) adios X

the book of love is long and boring....
I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING NOW FOR MY FINAL PIECE AFTER THE COLLECTION OF FIRST LOVE QUOTES....
yippety yee yar woo, I'm going to make many individual books of 'love' :)
I'm going to sew now
First Loves...
Well after a rather unproductive day of being slightly hungover... (went to the cock pit with lou and p and felt generally old so drank a few vodkas and then danced my rump off - was good in the end) I started making my banner, but in usual Jennyanne Style - did it until stupid o clock in the morning so will probably be a bit tired tomorrow, I think I love it already - very Tracey Emin Quilt Like. YAY. no doubt though after hand stitching it for 50 years I'll hate it and sewing and first love quotes. we will see :)
Addenum - After googling First Love I found some rather funky websites, Im linking them here, for the crack...
1 - a wiki how on how to get over your first love - goto love those wiki hows - my favourite bit 'fill up your mp3 with sad songs - makes you realise there are people out there more misterable then you - HAHAHA, they arent more miserable, they just wrote the songs first :) oh and they warn you about booze and drugs too hehe
thinkexist.com is somewhere I keep ending up of late, mainly because Im always looking up quotes... hummmmmn
right I HAVE to try to sleep now! bye me x

Stitchety Stitch Stitch Stitch
Well you know what kids, I havent blogged for at least 3 years or something, but now I am back - after being joined to a group blog I started to reminisce about millions of hours of typing on my old blog... So I went and re read them all, (I obviously saved them all, being a collector of things). HA the joys of reading my oh so public teenage diary years. MAGIC!
I presume now my blog is going to be about my art making but who knows the day is young!
Started making my First Loves Banner yesterday. The fabric is IMMENSE. I think I'm actually in love with it, and radio 6 and international films and post secret. ok thats it for now, Tar tar! X
addendum: if anyone does become a reader of this blogger expect poor grammar ok, I'm not a good speller and I like to type extremely fast and relatively autonomously, obviously for 'official' items I am much better because I check over things and 'descousify' my writings... but not here baby, here its just meeeeeee ADIOS HOMBRE XX
